Product #: NXTBW20
Thick Bed Stone & Porcelain Tile Adhesive is a rapid setting, cement based, thick bed tile adhesive. Its shrinkage compensating deep bed formulation; makes it ideal for the installation of large format tiles and slabs, affording excellent contact without the need to back butter. Thick Bed Stone & Porcelain Tile Adhesive is suitable for fixing fully vitrified porcelain, ceramic and natural stone tiles to a variety of different substrates both internally and externally. The adhesive also contains Rock-Tite polymeric binders, which enhances the adhesives flexibility and thermal ageing properties, allowing for a greater range of fixing i.e. over underfloor heating systems and prepared plywood sheets

Instructions
Surface Preparation
- Allow all new substrates to dry fully i.e. new concrete should be allowed to dry for a minimum of 6 weeks and new cement screeds for a minimum of 3 weeks
- Ensure the surface is clean, dry and strong enough to support the combined weight of the tiles, adhesive and grout
- Prime any porous or dusty surfaces, i.e. plaster, plasterboard, vinyl sheets, plywood overlay, anhydrite and gypsum screeds, with Norcros Prime Bond
- In wet areas or those of intermittent wetting, moisture sensitive backgrounds i.e. plaster, should be waterproofed using Norcros Wet Seal
- Thick Bed Stone & Porcelain Adhesive can be used to patch, repair and level uneven surfaces up to 25mm in one coat, however where deviance within the substrate is extensive Pro 50 Floor Leveller should be used
Mixing and Application
- Into a clean pail add 1 part of cold water and gradually introduce approx.. 3.5-4.5 parts of adhesive powder (mix until smooth, lump-free consistency achieved)
Note. mix only enough mortar to be used within the 30 minute pot life of the product - Pour the mortar from the mixing pail and using a suitably notched trowel spread the adhesive onto the fixing surface
- Comb to required bed thickness (designed for fixing in bed depths up to 25mm) ensuring ribs all run in one direction
- Spread only an area that can be covered within the 30 minute open time; before the adhesive begins to set and form a skin (if a skin has formed, simply remove adhesive and apply fresh layer)
- Press tile firmly into the ribs of the adhesive and into position, with slight twisting/sliding action to ensure optimum adhesive contact
- Ensure you have left adequate joint spaces between tiles for grouting
- Clean off surplus adhesive from tile face and between tile joints
- Tiles can be grouted as soon as the adhesive bed is set, typically 3 hours
Note. lift one tile to check the adhesive is in total contact with both substrate and tile, creating a void-free solid bedding
Recommendations
Thick Bed Stone & Porcelain Adhesive is not suitable for fixing to; single layers of timber, tongue and groove board, chipboard, plywood and steel – for these tiling applications use Tile Direct to Wood Rapid Kit
Thick Bed Stone & Porcelain Adhesive is a fast setting (3 hour) tile adhesive - for a slower setting time and an ease of use pot life use One Part Flexible Adhesive
When fixing to light coloured natural stone always use the white Thick Bed Stone & Porcelain Adhesive
