Accent colours are bright, energetic colours that are often used in relatively small quantities to the overall room's dimensions to focus attention in a colour scheme. In a kitchen this could be a bright colour in an otherwise beige and brown room, or in a bathroom it could be a strong vertical stripe or horizontal border, or perhaps a set of deep coloured towels. They can be used to make a colour scheme much more vibrant and interesting.
