Initial Builders Clean Sealing Maintenance Cleaning
There are a number of factors one must consider when attempting to select the ideal cleaning, sealing and maintenance product for the job, for example the type of tile and grout, the location of the tiled surface and the type of soiling or deposit you are attempting to remove.
The Tile Source has a technical solution to every cleaning and sealing problem; offering the very best in cleaning, sealing and maintenance products from world renowned specialists Lithofin and HG Hagesan - and all at household prices!
The initial builders cleaning process, as the name suggests, is the method of cleaning and removing building material residues from the building process (i.e. cement grouts and adhesives).
NON acidic cement, mortar and efflorescence removers, and non acidic initial tile and background cleaners, are ideally suited for use on calciferous natural stone. NON acidic natural stone cleaners, however, are not as potent as acidic cleaners and therefore cannot remove dried on cement and mortar residues and ingrained dirt etc. as easily.
Highly active, acid-containing cleaners, which can easily remove all dried on cement and efflorescence residues from ceramic, porcelain and NON calciferous natural stone such as granite and slate etc. (Ceramic tiles are unaffected by most chemicals, whereas natural stone can be damaged by acidic cleaners.)
As with all chemical applications, ALWAYS check and follow the health and safety advice found on the product packaging.

Do I need to seal my tiles and/or grout?
Sealing tiles and grout reduces the porosity of the material, strengthening it against dirt, spills, staining and wear. All grout needs to be sealed as it is naturally porous and will stain easily, but not all tiles need to be sealed.
It is necessary to seal terracotta, quarry, polished and textured porcelain tiles and nearly all natural stone tiles (preferably immediately after installation), however it is NOT necessary to seal any glazed tiles or quality un-polished porcelain tiles.
The type of tile seal and amount of sealer required will vary depending on the absorbency of the product. Lithofin and HG Hagesan offer a huge array of different sealers, some of which are equally effective on the same material type, but have different finishes, i.e. HG Natural Stone Shine Finish deepens the colour of the stone and creates a shine finish, whereas HG Marble and Stone Impregnator is an invisible sealer which does not change the nature of the tile and allows the stone to breathe.
Note. It is particularly important you use the correct seal for natural stone, as the wrong type can irrevocably damage the tile and at best result in an expensive renovation.
Initial Builders Clean Sealing Maintenance Cleaning
Regular maintenance, with the appropriate products, is the key to prolonging the life of any tiled finish.
The type of maintenance products required is dependant on the properties of the tile, the sealant used and the location of the tiled surface i.e. kitchen floor or shower wall.
The Tile Source offers the very best in maintenance cleaning products, from leading specialists Lithofin and HG Hagesan. Our specialist products are compatible with all tile sealants; they affectively clean surfaces without damaging/stripping the seals over time (unlike most household name brands).
